Fly From Here - Return Trip

OK when they said that the album was "remixed" I wasn't sure what to expect, but they REALLY meant it. It sound extremely different. Different instrumental parts in sections, new solos, lots of parts rearranged (the title track is actually a couple minutes *shorter* than the 2011 version). Trevor Horn singing is almost the *least* of the changes. Of course his vocals sound great, some of his phrasing and inflections are a bit different than the 2011 version which threw me a bit a first (it's closer to the way he sang it on the old Buggles demos actually, which I suppose shouldnt be too surprising. it's his song after all), but he just feels more "right" singing these songs than Benoit David did. But yeah pretty much every bit of every song sounds different in some way, mostly all for the better. The more drastic changes will take a bit of getting used to ("Hour Of Need" is nearly 7 minutes long now!), so I'll hold off on saying that every last change was for the better. But I think it's safe to say that if you're a Yes fan don't pass this by just because it seems like it might be kind of redundant.
I feel kind of bad for Benoit David cus I'll probably never listen to that version of the album again. Well maybe out of interest in comparing the two versions of the album, cus there are just so many differences. It really kind of sounds like it might as well just be a "new" Yes album.
And the best thing is that Heaven and Earth now no longer has to be the last Yes album.
The new song that Steve Howe sings is pretty decent actually, though I really *really* don't get why Trevor didn't sing it cus Howe should not be singing. That will likely be the biggest gripe that everybody has with the album.
