I listened to an analysis of Frownland that one of the people here posted and it made sense why I despised the album
Essentially you have the three main instruments having their own time signatures, own key signatures playing simultaneously.
Aka polyrhythm and polytonality
There is extensive used of overlapping ostinato or juxtaposition where each instrument has its own repeating riff that repeats for a section of a piece however since the riffs from each instruments are in different time signatures and different key signatures, these riff overlap with each other differently every time it is repeated similar to Stravinsky overlapping ostinato in the rites of spring. So you have these repeating pattern unrelated to each other juxtaposed with each other
So the results of all these composing technique
Chaos. Where you have piece of music that is indistinguishable to people playing instruments randomly
Seems like a complete waste of time to meticulously composed music that produced the same effect as four musician playing four different piece at the same time simultaneously (which essentially what combining polytonality/polyrhythm is)
