About once or twice a month though, I "hate watch" the movie critic Chris Stuckmann. I'm not sure exactly why I single him out. In a way, he's not much different from the legion of Youtube "movie geeks" who have very strong, usually positive, opinions about Star Wars and Marvel. Like many of the others, he's nostalgic for 80s/90 childhood artifacts with no discernible ambivalence about it. Like many of the others, the scope of his film knowledge is limited to the current and the mainstream. Like many of the others, he opines in front of a carefully selected backdrop made up of his collection of action figures and video games.
Maybe it's his thumbnail images that I find so upsetting (Pretty much always half-dominated by his own face, smiling if he likes the movie, wearing a pained expression if he doesn't).
Maybe I'm fascinated by how unfunny he is.
Or maybe I'm just trying to figure how the hell he has well over 1 million subscribers.
How about you, darling?
