2001 - I would never argue its importance and that objectively, it's an extraordinary achievement but yeah, the 1 time I saw it as a teenager, I didn't particularly enjoy it. I *have* always wanted to rewatch it on the big screen (that comment re: "Don't bother otherwise" is what I've actually heard from old folks and film geeks) but it always sells out right away whenever there's a theater showing.
The Third Man- The zither *is* a tad excessive but I like it and the film is top shelf noir, if not among my absolute favorites.
Citizen Kane - In this case, my comment was an obvious joke (I own it). Anyone who lets the film's reputation as "the best film of all time" get in the way of their enjoyment of it is really missing out.
The Bicycle Thief - Maybe if I had put "Subtitles? Waaaaaaaah!" the joke would have been more obvious? Though I can imagine that it may not be "eventful" enough for some folks, I found it to be entertaining and quite moving at times. And yes, I know "Bicycle Thieves" is the real title- I copied and pasted from Matt's post. Besides, EBERT called it "The Bicycle Thief" and he's NEVER WRONG BRO!
