By the way I saw the concert as Stravinsky Pulcinella (aka Stravinsky magnum opus) was also on the program. Surprisingly she thought that was a little bit too modern as well.
Although saying that when I saw an atonal opera Brett Dean’s Hamlet. She enjoyed the night a hell of a lot more than me as she was enjoying the stage play. During the intermission I was having a discussion with her that we should walk out as it was excruciating horrible (I think it’s my pick of the most painful listen of any music I have heard in classical music). Although I decided to stay because she was enjoying the theatrical aspect. I guess it shows that people can tolerate atonal music when it is associated with visuals that give it context
