Foundations of Funk
Great comp, and I'm usually not a fan of comps that repeat album tracks, but then again James Brown albums are a terrible mess (which annoys my inner completionist). It's a shame this is lacking "America Is My Home". That only seems to be on whatever Complete Singles volume that belongs on.
Friday On My Mind
I feel like I wrote about this in a "What's Spinning?" a few months ago. Can't remember what I said. I vaguely remember that there are supposed to be different editions of this thing. Does yours have "Heaven and Hell" on it? That's a great song from the band around this time. As far as their albums go, I actually prefer Vigil, despite its rather poor reputation.
From Genesis to Revelation
I like this one. Compared to later Genesis it should be a real stinker, but it's so adorable, naive and charming. And they have all the right influences for a classy pop album: pre-disco Bee Gees, the Moody Blues, maybe even the Zombies? The concept is kind of dippy, but it fits the naive charm anyhow.
