I gave it another listen - it's better than I remember. "Pretty" and "Crazy Miranda" are indeed pretty good, I'd forgotten those two. I like "Lawman" and "War Movie" too. But the Kaukonen songs are all pretty bad in my view (he's a good guitarist but a mediocre songwriter and a bad singer in my book - that could partly reflect my general apathy toward blues-based music). The German song, "Rock and Roll Island" and "Thunk" aren't bad, but the kind of thing I think the band has done better elsewhere.
Re: another of your posts - For a pretty well-regarded live band, I've definitely found it surprisingly hard to find good live material by them. I love the "Somebody to Love" on Bless Its Pointed Little Head but the rest of that album's tracklist is pretty bad (three crummy Balin tunes, some boring covers, a long aimless jam). Sweeping Up The Spotlight is on Spotify, I'll give that a listen sometime.
