Singles Going Steady is the perfect example on when a comp is a better intro than an LP
The A-side is actually half of a concept LP - song by song, it tells a story, from lonely masturbation to meeting someone and falling in love and then falling out of love and breaking up and then consoling oneself with the power of music. This is not my original idea - thanks to Babble's Adam Smith for pointing this out.
Their regular albums have a handful of good songs that aren't on Singles, but I listen to Singles 50x more than the regular LPs. And I'm the type of person who rarely listens to comps when the original LPs are available.
