It is hard for me to expect any next coronation to be viewed in awe and wonder.
I fear that it could be handed over to present day events managers and have all the whizz bangery of a huge sporting event - loud noises, flashing colour displays, and gushing flames.
Next Excalibur introduces some hope!
The next could "marry together history with the present" so I think trumpets, precious gold and gems and golden vestments, and bonfires.
(I recall the more things change the more they stay the same.)
But I want it all well marked by tradition for continuity. I believe ceremonial of this sort has the power to reach and satisfy something at the core of humanity that unites us.
The monarchy is a symbol of unity in contrast to the political promoting conflict and division.
Excalibur - you say of 1953 there were a couple of things that were very odd. Would you please tell us what they were?
