In late September 1928 Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, then Duchess of York, launched a ship, the Duchess of York , for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company.
In recognition of the occasion the builders, John Brown, presented HM with a Rose of York brooch.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find an image of this brooch; nevertheless, I wondered if it could have been the Rose of York brooch which was auctioned with some of Princess Margaret's jewels. As the auctioned brooch is not the one which Queen Mary gave to QEQM as a wedding gift, this second brooch might have been the source of Princess Margaret's brooch.
