My reason for thinking this is that QEQM commenced wearing these in public very shortly after the end of WWII.
VE Day was 8 May 1945.
As far as I know QEQM was first photographed wearing these earrings on 10 July 1945 when the King and Queen went to the Comedie Francaise.

At this time, I very much doubt if the King would have purchased or commissioned an extremely valuable set of earrings. To my mind the use of the triangular shaped diamonds in the stud also indicates a Greville provenance.
QEQM wore these again in November 1945.
On 6 November 1945 to see the Mikado at St Mary's hospital.

From this time on the earrings were a firm favourite, being worn for both day and evening wear.
