It grabbed my attention immediately. I have this photo of QEQM and Princess Margaret at Ascot on 23 June 1978. I think it is the same occasion -- based on the dresses and hats worn by the royal ladies. It shows that QEQM is wearing what I call her emerald palm tree brooch. I think that the Alamy photo was a little deceptive.

I think I can see something in both places. I know the photo was taken in the mid 1930s but I will have to try to find another shot to see if I can work out what the brooch is. Or could it be the same as at the waist line in this photo?

So far I have not found another photo from this event. I was hoping for one which might give a better view of the brooch. Do you know the year? That might help to narrow down the search. I know that QEQM wore long dresses like this to a few formal garden party events during the north American tour as well as in the UK, so a place name would also narrow the search if you have any additional information.
