Anthemion Tiara
Posted by Beth on January 14, 2024, 4:53 pm
I posted this some days ago on Instagram -so some may have seen it. My apologies for the delay in posting here as I promised I would.
Unfortunately, some days I can only do a certain amount & on other days I can do nothing.
Some time ago I became aware of the work of the master jeweller, B Tracy of @finelinesjewellers who made the tiara to a design given to him by the Design Team at Garrard & Co where he then worked.
I know that many do not like the design of this tiara, so I would ask everyone to remember that the jeweller was not the designer. Nor do any of us know what restrictions were placed on the designers.
All that the jeweller was told was that the elements came from an antique tiara belonging to QEII.
For me the great importance of these images is that it shows clearly where the Koh-i-noor was mounted in the front of the 2nd setting of the Regal Circlet.
When I raised the question over the years, no one had any idea.
It is now clear that the Koh-i-noor fittted into the original lower element in the tiara worn by the Duchess of Edinburgh for her wedding.
Apparently, the Duchess, who took keen interest in the making of the jewel, was pleased with the design.
A new piece of information about the wedding tiara is that, at the time of construction, it was designed to be dismantled & used as a necklace when desired.

I did an update to acknowledge that Nellie of RJWMB was the one to identify that the Duchess of Edinburgh's wedding tiara was made from the Anthemion elements of the Regal Circlet.
I posted it on Instagram, but now my app is giving me grief.
Photobucket is also being disobliging so I cannot post the images here or on the RJWMB for Nellie to see.
Could some one post the Instagram link so Nellie can see it please?
