Big news from Crocodile Bar and Cabanas
Posted by Mateo on April 23, 2024, 9:24 pm
Amigos! As promised, Crocodile Bar and Cabanas remains open! Please forgive Mateo for the lack of recent postings. Typing requires 10 unfrozen digits and La Manzanilla reached 59 degrees Farenheit–about 0 degrees Celsius–last month. Obviously Mateo loses the ability to overcome the La Manzanilla Industrial Gossip Machine with frozen fingers.
ONGOING LIVE MUSIC: IT’S ON THE CALENDAR! Please come enjoy Christine at 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Rick and Paul at 6 p.m. Fridays. Thanks to those of you who continue to support live music and who take the time to post on the message board calendar and those who read the message board calendar. And thanks to Spencer and Cynthia for making both the message board and calendar possible. Yes, many of you miss typing a 37-digit code simply to post the details of your ride share, but look at it this way: Instead of living in the early 1990s when Mateo had some hair, you may now reflect on the late 1990s when Mateo joined the bald coalition.
WE’RE STILL OPEN Crocodile Bar kitchen hours Monday-Saturday, 12 p.m.-7:30 p.m. English translation: You may order anything on the menu during these hours. You may come for lunch if you so choose. You don’t have to worry if the plates are “too spicy”. As always, margaritas remain gluten-free. Spanish translation: No manches, guey!
FREE FINANCIAL ADVICE In case you haven’t noticed, prices have increased all over the world including La Manzanilla. What had been a 14-peso bus trip to Melaque in 2016 now costs 30 pesos. Or the price of the fresh bread for 5 pesos now costs 10. In other words, regardless of the exchange rate of other currencies in relation to the Mexican peso, prices for many goods and services have doubled in the last eight years. That said, prices for almost everything in La Manzanilla remain lower compared to almost everywhere north of the border. And if you’re someone who frets over conversion rates, today’s exchange of the peso is essentially identical to the USD or CDN rate in 2015. Cheers to those who consider their margarita glass at half-full.
MOVING MATTERS Some said Crocodile Bar and Cabanas deserved only two stars for a limited menu or others claimed the fine establishment would be closed in January 2024. They should apologize to the legions of fans who make the bar and hotel a special place. Look for Mateo and friends in a new location in the upcoming high season and please continue to visit the current location if you’re still in town.
New location!!! That will get me through the summer knowing that you're OK and planning hijinx somewhere else next season. All the best from Vicki and Robin.
Hola, Mateo. For my taste buds, Croc Bar has the very best chicken mole in town, as good as my mother's, and the best croc bull by you, Mateo, the most entertaining. Cruz
