Goofy examples of old game violence

I always thought it was weird that there was a big bloody splat behind the words "INNOCENT VICTIM" when you accidentally shoot the wrong person. (There's no other real blood in the game, as I recall.) The Sega CD game had the "MA-17" rating which only like six or seven games ever got, IIRC.
I was also sort of surprised that Nintendo ever allowed this
--I guess nobody from PETA was there at the time to protest the puppies going "splat!" on the ground? More than a little sick if you ask me!
