I'm not a big prog fan (I'm mostly lukewarm to Tull's prog stuff and Genesis really in general -- I'll listen to Lamb someday but of all their stuff I've heard I like only Nursery Cryme and Selling England more or less all the way through) but I do love me some Yes, even Tormato and Time and a Word. It's hard to go wrong with anything pre-90125, (which is itself a good album).
Don't give up with Yes if you don't like Close to the Edge (or Fragile). There's not much room for error on a three-track album and if the title track leaves you cold you'll have a low opinion of the disc, which might put you off from hearing anything further. Give their discography a good dive before you assume they're not for you.
