It's OK! Gorillaz are now a bland background music band and this is basically Albarn's Every Day Robots part 2. But that's still a million times better than Humanz.
Animal Collective (Avey Tare) - Essence of Eucalyptus
A 4 song EP of songs from Avey Tare's Eucalyptus album remixed by the other Animal Collective members. Pretty much just sounds like an Animal Collective EP and nothing like the Avey Tare solo album. The Deakin track is the best one.
JRAD "Joe Russo's Almost Dead" - Random youtube videos.
Heard these guys were a pretty good Grateful Dead cover band, but damn they friggin rip! Way better than I was expecting. they certainly beat the pants off the current elderly version of the Dead who are touring around these days. If these guys came to Vancouver I'd see them in a heartbeat.
Phish - Phish Destroys America & Live Bait 14
A 6-disc fanmade comp of choice bits from Phish's Fall 1997 tour. Pretty much every track on here is one of their best performances ever. I was planning on holding off on listening to much Phish before I see them, but that clearly utterly failed. Live Bait 14 is an annual compilation series they release prior to every major tour, this one features mostly 99 and 00 songs which is a somewhat underrepresented era for them in official releases.
Can - Flow Motion, Soon Over Babaluma, Delay 1968, Ege Bamyasi, Future Days, Tago Mago
Delay sucks, Babaluma rules, Flow Motion is much better than I was led to believe. You already know the other three are great.
Death Grips - Year Of The Snitch
the initial hype when these guys came on the scene has long since died down, but the more I hear this the more I think this could very well be their best album ever. Or at the very least it's up there. every track on here is a total head-spinner.
Kamasi Washington - Heaven and Earth
Not as good as The Epic but it's still 2+ hours of great stuff. I saw him live two weeks ago and his band was absolutely amazing.
