"I'm just coming down from a hypomanic spell which was probably evident both in the writing and in the sheer amount of music I took in"
I did notice that your writing was a bit more "colorful" than usual. Babble has sorta desensitized me to epic lists of music consumed though (with the exception of Trung, who still blows my mind with his intake regularly- he seems to literally *always* have music on). You good bruh? Only witnessed one hypomanic episode and it was pretty scary- was my ex gf's mom who started walking up to shady looking strangers and trying to engage them after we had all had dinner.
I like the "Admiral Halsey" part but yeah it's pretty sugary and dumb. Actually the whole thing almost sounds like a dry run for "Band On The Run" the song- slow A-minor dominated introduction leading into a sunshiney C-major dominated singalong. All it's missing is is a variation on the D to A-minor "if we ever get out of here" middle part. And as others have pointed out, both songs sorta sound like a conscious attempt to recapture some of that "Abbey Road" medley magic, which is maybe why John liked it (although I had heard that he wasn't a big fan of that medley).
