I agree with you and pugeye that it's probably smarter to take things easy right now while things are still messy for me. Things are hopefully improving (albeit slowly) and it's probably better to not mess with that that by introducing drugs I haven't tried before.
People were selling LSD all over the place when I went to Phish but I wasn't about to have my first experience with it be a) by myself, b) in an unfamiliar location, and c) purchase from a sketchy lot dealer who I don't trust (those guys are sketchy as f*ck. I heard that the guys dealing whippets on the lot are diluting their balloons with car nitrous because it's cheaper even though regular nitrous is already insanely profitable for them. Not that whippets are anything like LSD but still, doesn't exactly make me confident in buying anything from those people)
My camping neighbours offered me some of their mushrooms, and while I trusted them I still declined because of reasons a and b. If I was with a friend to watch my back I probably would have tho.
I did think about buying some and then bringing it home, but in spite of how easy it probably would be to do so I'm not going to take any chances at the border. The US can permanently ban you from entering the country if you admit to smoking weed at any point in your life even if you're travelling between 2 legal locations like Canada and Washington. I'd rather not tempt fate there with any illegal or semi-legal substance.
I have heard very conflicting things about "research chemicals", some people saying it's basically the same thing as LSD, other people saying that it being any different from LSD in any way just makes it a completely different drug with more unknown effects and potentially greater downsides. Either way the idea of taking something when I don't know exactly what it is and doing the appropriate research is something I think I'm uncomfortable with.
Probably won't be travelling back to the states for a while, but I'll remember that if I end up in Seattle at any opportune point.
