Re: Agreed- it's ridiculously underrated
I can see preferring it to their later albums. Those Gabriel era albums are growing on me a lot. Only Foxtrot did anything for me previously (and a few songs on Lamb Lies Down on Broadway) but I really dig them all to varying degrees. That debut though seems instantly catchy and melodic on one listen. I am kinda shocked how much people give flack to this album. It is a bit corny and overwrought but it is still very good! I guess I am always good at ignoring stupid lyrics unless they're totally obvious.
You can kinda see traces of it in Trespass a little bit too. I only heard it like once or twice so I could be remembering wrong, but I remember some orchestrated type stuff in the middle of Trespass.
Nursery Cryme is also real underrated.
