My turntable is on the fritz but I'll get a new one soon.
I actually haven't heard Time Out. Dunno what other big discs I've been missing. The store had like 20 Sun Ra records and the Angels & Demons/Nubians twofer was the only one I had heard of, per your recommendation (well there were also Heliocentric Worlds vols. 2 and 3 but I recognized them only because I own part 1.) Perfect Machine is an album from the late '80s featuring Bootsy Collins where Hancock is credited with some 10 different synthesizers. It has the potential to be really bad.
Yeah, I don't go to the store that often but the guy who works there when we go has been appreciating my purchases lately. I'm actually fairly self-conscious about being recognized as a regular at the 7-11 or the diner, where they know my brand of cigarettes and beer or what I like with my pancakes and coffee, but I'm fine with being known at the record store. Go figure -- geekdom, I guess.
Yeah, Casablanca was definitely more like a stage work than most movies. I meant to say that but I guess it slipped my mind.
Been wrapping my troubles in dreams the last month or so (or at least in media and Latin/Greek). In short my mom got a breast tumor and after many anxious weeks -- this stuff takes *forever* -- the biopsy came back benign. Felt/feel much less jubilant than I had expected, just emotionally tired.
