"The Bends" - Nobody even cares about the debut except for Trung.
"Trespass" - I prefer the debut. This one has a nice enough atmosphere but most of the actual material is pretty forgettable. The weakest of the Gabriel era albums IMO.
"Nevermind" - Well, yeah. But "Bleach" is still pretty damn good if you judge it on its own terms- actually just listened to it the other day and had a good time. Pretty simple but damn catchy- can't help but wish Grohl drummed on it though.
"Odyssey & Oracle" - I've actually always preferred the earlier stuff but will admit that maybe the tracklisting on the debut (particularly the UK version) could have been better, especially when you consider the first disc of the "Zombie Heaven" box. But "O&O" is obviously still a 5 star masterpiece.
"Metal Box" - Probably a bit better than the debut but not by as much as you're making it sound. Not a huge fan of either TBH but they each serve their own unique purpose.
"Everybody Knows" - Yeah, Neil's debut is pretty disappointing, especially on the heels of Buffalo Springfield, with whom he did some of his best stuff (including my all time favorite "Expecting To Fly"). An argument could be made that this should really be considered Crazy Horse's debut but think most would agree that it's a significant improvement over Neil's s/t album
