Yeah been ages since I've been to the DNA Lounge. I'll still go to bars and clubs every once in awhile but it's pretty rare, because I quit drinking quite awhile ago and am an old curmudgeon. A former high school classmate of mine used to be one of DNA's main DJ's- not sure whether he's still there though.
Yep no SF natives could have really predicted this shit, especially not on this scale but I'm just old enough (35) to have noticed neighborhoods (including Potrero Hill, the one I grew up in) changing pretty significantly, which really seemed to take off in the mid-late 90's during the initial tech boom sometimes referred to as "The Dot-Com Bubble". I was still too young to really understand what was happening- at the time I mainly noticed new fancy restaurants and that my neighbors seemed less friendly. But these days it's obviously a whole other city.
