I should also add that I do think anyone who likes the show should watch the movie even if it sucks. They tried to cram two seasons of TV into one feature film, while also making it accessible to people who never saw the one season they did get to make, and it didn't work. But it does show where they had planned to go with the story. I've mostly lost interest with the current crop of franchise spectacles that dominate Hollywood but I do think that if Firefly had made the transition to film in this environment it would have worked out better. With streaming and cheap DVDs they could have counted on most of the audience watching the show before they see the movie, and they would probably have been given multiple films.
