Anyway, I started high school in '98 and at that point, Vedder was already one of the most popular whipping boys among male classmates. PJ was no longer cool and no one would admit to ever liking them. Maybe this was an extreme reaction compared to other folks but I seem to remember him regularly getting trashed on the internet as well, which continues to this day.
Despite my mixed feelings about Vedder, he does have a few vocal performances that stand out, like "Corduroy", "Last Exit" and "Animal". He's actually the opposite of Corgan in a way- I tend to prefer him when he's rockin' out but when he's doing a ballad his technical limitations and affected style of singing becomes harder to ignore.
