Me, I don't know what to think, but it is very sad.
Four years ago, the Dallas Film Festival gave Landis a Lifetime Achievement award and I went to the festival's screening of "The Blues Brothers", which Landis also attended--he sat right in the audience, about three rows down from me and watched the movie--and then got up for a Q&A afterward.
He was very funny and personable and gave detailed responses to questions, clearly a guy comfortable with talking about his movies and addressing a crowd. Lotta love in the room.
And there was no filtering process for the questions. Anyone could stand up and ask him anything. And I did wonder what happen if somebody got up and hounded him about the "Twilight Zone" thing (because he no longer talks about it in interviews). It has to have happened.
