I've seen them live, actually

On tour with Earth, Wind & Fire in 2003 or 2004: I was working at the venue at the time and it was one of the more enjoyable concerts (you have no idea how bad some music is until you're regularly blasted by it really, really loud, for 2 hours at a stretch). Snagged my mom and her friends some comp tickets -- you could get handfuls of them for most shows (lawn seating) and you couldn't give them away most concerts.
It was interesting. They really played up their hippie roots and talked about being flower children and smoking lots of pot. This was probably a pander to the mostly-boomer crowd and today they would reminisce about the late '70s instead of the late '60s. All the musicians jammed together at the end (well it's de rigeur when you share the headline) and boogied. It was still an odd tour pairing.
