This development makes me very anxious but honestly I'd have rather had the old Criterion-affiliated Hulu back then have Filmstruck. Filmstruck had inferior picture quality (although I hadn't used it since recently upgrading from Roku to Roku plus) and you still needed another service to get tv shows and newer movies. Hulu had been adding special features to some of their Criterion content before Filmstruck came along. They were basically doing, or starting to do, everything Filmstruck did, so I was never really convinced that Filmstruck accomplished anything other than sapping classic movies away from everybody else and further fragmenting the market so that everybody needed three or four streaming services to get what they used to get from one. I did like Filmstruck, and I expected any issued with picture quality to be resolved eventually, and now I'm afraid that we'll never even get back what we had on Hulu and the other services before they came along. But really I'd always kind of wished for they'd just kept all that stuff on Hulu.
All this goes for Britbox being the only place to see the old Doctor Who and some other British TV.
