I'm too nostalgic for that to really happen much
When I was going back and listening to 90's stuff I held off on checking out what I considered to be "bottom of the barrel" albums by Green Day, Sublime, The Offspring, White Zombie, Live and even Coolio and Warren G. And I was surprised by how much I enjoyed all of them, not that I was ever *crazy* about them in the first place and I still wouldn't call any of them more than objectively decent. But I definitely have more of a positive bias towards that stuff than albums I've discovered more recently which I'm sorta lukewarm on from the beginning and eventually just wind up deleting from my iPod in favor of something else.
Um those are some bizarre Of Montreal opinions brahski. IMO, "Satanic" > "Sunlandic" and "Disconnect The Dots" is one of the least interesting songs on the former. And I can't really agree w/ the 2 cuts you listed as highlights on the latter either. I'm all about "Lysergic Bliss", "Climb The Ladder", "British Tour Diary", "Crissy Kiss The Corpse", "Requiem For OMM", "Oslo In The Summertime", "Wraith Pinned To The Mist" and "I Was Never Young". Listen to them very rarely these days and their tweeness was always something of an obstacle but I think their early albums (most of the stuff before "Hissing Fauna") hold up pretty well
