Actually, listening to some of the stuff without Cora
specifically the "Singles, Period" comp, they're really reminding me of The Fall so I'd definitely recommend them to Fall fans (though maybe most Fall fans know them already?). Various reviews of Dog Faced Hermans compared *them* to The Fall, which kind of confused me (not really a Fall fan but am familiar with most of their key albums, partly thanks to Tabs)- I just don't hear it, they're too unpredictable and Marion usually has a pretty different approach than Mark E. Smith. But listening to these singles by The Ex, the frontman seems very influenced by Smith both as a singer and lyricist and the band seems more groove/riff-based and punk related than DFH as well. So The Ex doesn't really seem quite as up my alley as DFH but the stuff w/ Cora is pretty interesting and a couple of those later singles (like "Gonna Rob A Spermbank", for example) are pretty cool.
