Early BB hits are generally my favorite songs of theirs

but the stuff on "Today" especially the ballads, ranks alongside the stuff on "Pet Sounds" IMO. Maybe it doesn't hit the same heights, but I could easily imagine swapping out one of "Pet Sounds"'s lesser tracks like "That's Not Me", "Here Today", "I'm Waiting For The Day" or "Sloop John B." for one of "Today"'s better tracks. I've also always had mixed feelings about the instrumentation on "Pet Sounds" so the arrangements on "Today" are much more to my liking. Just replace "Bull Session" with "The Little Girl I Once Knew" and you've got a slab o' solid gold.
You've also mentioned your dictate for the "Today" version of "Rhonda" and I don't really get that. I mean, yeah, the faster hit version from the follow up album is better but they're not *that* different and there's nothing *wrong* w/ the original.
