I knew about the Cooper association. He plays on The Last Temptation which was one of my first Alice Cooper albums cus it was one of the only ones my dad had on CD.
WDADU does sound a lot like Queensryche. Having heard it now I don't think I was missing anything by not having heard it. It's a formative debut if there ever was one. Ytse Jam is ok I guess, it's funny that it's framed as being their big signature instrumental songs, but compared to what they'd do later it sounds practically quaint. Nothing on the album is particularly great, but I found it to be an interesting listen hearing the band wearing their influences on their sleeve so much and hearing the seeds of what would come later forming. Definitely an album I wouldn't recommend to anyone unless they were filling in discography gaps, which is what I was doing (Octavarium is up next).
The cover is dumb, but is it any worse than some of their other covers? Not really imo.
(btw I dunno what the general public opinion is but Queensryche suck pretty bad and Dream Theater are superior for sure.)
>>Ugh, I keep forgetting to hear the Eno/Shields thing.
It's good but not essential. Way too short.
