Have never gotten used to straight folks using the word "partner" to described significant others
I mean, I've never been the biggest fan of the term "girlfriend" myself but it's commonly used (at least here in the states- is "partner" common at all in Australia?) so I'll use it. "Partner" just sounds bland and clinical. But hey, whatever floats your boat. Also popular around here are "girl" and "lady" (the former has more of a ghetto connotation and the latter conjures up more of a hipster image). And if you really wanna get fancy, there's "ladyfriend", which gets bonus points for the "Big Lebowski" connection.
Yeah, Zappa isn't really chick music. I mean, much of his stuff would probably repel a large portion of the female public, especially in the #metoo era. I've been fortunate enough to have exes who liked him (though obviously not nearly as much as I do) but then, I tend to date weird, nerdy women.
What type of music does your ladyfriend tend to favor again?
