I didn't expect to love Hereditary, but I was thinking I would enjoy it at least somewhat. At the most generous, I would just say there's nothing in it that overlaps with what I enjoy in film. I didn't love Mandy, but that was at least unique and much closer to what I find enjoyable.
"And to write off "Hereditary" as just your standard horror flick + "ostensibly pretentious trappings" is just contrary hipster bullshit and you know it."
I will not acknowledge my opinions being referred to as "contrary hipster bullshit" by someone whose favorite albums is *Trout Mask Replica*.
"Please don't turn into one of those old men who constantly rants that everything new is just a ripoff of everything that came before it- nobody likes that guy."
This is dumb. I can name dozens of films just from 2018 that I like much more than Hereditary. My distaste for one mediocre Hollywood horror film is not indicative of anything but that. Anyway, you've barely even given any argument of *why* this ####ing movie is supposed to be any good, and are instead doubling down trying to convince me how it's a personal failure of mine that I thought it sucked.
