Ok, I chuckled. TBH I'm not really aware of what kind of hipster cred TMR carries these days but it seems like it's become passe as a pillar of hipsterdom in the last decade or 2. Like, it's too well-known at this point to really be considered the ultimate hipster album like it once was.

Again, my objection was you focusing on the supposed lack of originality of a film whose originality is one of the main things it's been praised for. Not that I'd call it extraordinarily groundbreaking, but compared to most modern horror, it kinda is. As I've pointed out in this thread, there are definitely things about it that could have been better so I certainly don't think it's beyond criticism. It was just your specific complaints which baffled me. One of those scenarios (which happens somewhat regularly) where you and I seem to have watched completely different films
