Every Babbler knows how you feel about "Suttree". That was the point- I was giving you a shout out for recommending it. "Midnight melon mounter" is a line from the book (to describe the kid you gets caught ####ing watermelons). Only about 20 pages in, but it definitely seems to point towards the lush, poetic ugly/beautiful imagery of "Blood Meridian" and as much as I enjoyed reading "Child of God" recently, this one really reminds me of McCarthy's command of the English language. He might not be my *favorite* writer but in terms of mastery of painterly evocation, he's probably the writer who impresses me the most. Then there's also the timelessness of it and the fact that he simply knows how to spin a good yarn.
I suppose you were sober as a nun on Sunday when you watched "Head"? What's the final verdict? Also, it surprises me that a trivia hound like yourself was unaware of Zappa's involvement- you slippin, blud
