I actually dont even remember exactly when it stopped working, it's probably closer to two years by now. It died very slowly where gradually the belt would take longer and longer before it started spinning, and eventually it just stopped completely. And after that I got embroiled in other shit and couldn't afford the cost of a new one anyway so it fell far down my priority list. Glad to have a new one though (and not a hand-me-down from my dad either).
My stereo is right next to my computer so I already basically never leave my stereo most of the time when I'm at home! It's nice to be able to go record shopping again though. It seems like opportunities to buy records are popping up roughly equal in rate to the reduction of stores that stock CDs. My town used to have 0 sources of vinyl. now there are at least 4 within 15 minutes. Including at the mall next to where I work, so I could literally get off work and buy a record on the way to my car. And I probably will from time to time (though the selection at that store specifically isn't great, they do have some of those new fancy pressings of classic jazz records though)
