Thankfully the chorus are normally well written that salvage the song and make it listenable and somewhat enjoyable
it's pretty clear that I probably would have never listened to Gorillaz if it weren't for the Blur connection due to the headline criticism
Anyway I like Gorillaz as a 1 star group and their best album wouldn't score more than a Hex A.
In terms of Blur-related solo project, Graham Coxon solo (in particular his first four album + spinning top) is far more interesting according to my taste and makes me think that he was the talent among the group. Sure Albarn is the songwriter of the Blur and he is talent enough but Blur's songwriting by itself would just be an inferior version of The Kinks. It's Graham Coxon guitar playing and it's impact on the arrangement that makes them unique and stnad out.
Best: Demon Days
Worst : The Fall or Plastic Beach
