Maybe they could try to argue that Weinstein led to some kind of moral revolution that cast the allegations in a new light, but that wouldn’t really be true either cos its always been a hot topic and taken seriously.
All that changed is the climate shifted in such a way that a public display of giving Allen the benefit of the doubt became a toxic position for a company like Amazon and they got cold feet. If they’d signed a contract saying they’d do things they no longer wanted to do, that’s their problem.
At this point I don’t particularly believe Allen’s guilty to be quite honest.
