Particularly impressed with Willits, Doyle, Dhesi. Bresser could have went earlier and harder for a major. I have to believe that he has heard the message of scoring more points for 5 years. He is really really really good. But his wrestling DNA doesnít always go for the jugular. If he can whip a guy to his back and pin he will but he is less likely to push pace really hard to get a major or tech if he doesnít put the man on his back.
Now if you give up easy escapes with 10 seconds left ins round or canít get out in two minutes, and your a senior, it may not be the coaches doing.
Coleman fought hard, Iíd take that guy on my team anyway. But he ainít no Sam colbray talent wise. Sorry that match wasnít gonna have a different result. Love his effort every time.
133 was a disappointment . That said the Iowa state guy is real good. 197 I thought the Centiry kid fought hard, just the Iowa State 3x All American is much better skill wise at the ninety. 4 year difference in age.
165 and 149 were winnable matches. I didnít see a development problem there as much as I saw a lack of effort and digging deep toughness when it was needed.
I was in the arena and thought going in it may be worse as Iowa State has been wrestling well. Damn they almost beat Iowa, been crushing many teams as of late.
Bigger Willits wins that match if heís healthy and suits up, now we are talking a 2 point of so match. Bresser gets a fall day and boom itís a draw going to criteria. Doyle loses major with 5 seconds left giving up escape with what appeared to be goi g for another turn. Mental lapse maybe but I would take aggressive wrestling anyway over a lot of the stuff I see
Little Willits looked like he had a fall or very close. Woulda coulda but thatís 3 more points. I thought most guys wrestled fairly well, a few were outclassed and a few gave away opportunities there from a golden goose.
Got a chance to talk with John Dustin from Restore the Oregonís wrestling foundation and they are doing some cool stuff maybe with more big things coming. I hope people will get involved like I promised to do tonight even if itís jist a small contribution.
Like what the announcer on the PA is doing now to spice up the excitement. Could still use some kind of band or something. On the other hand OSU fans still seem so docile. I mean good grief get out of your seat and cheer every once in a while. A guy like Willits beats a top ten or so kid and itís a huge win and people look like they are at a morgue. Get some life to ya folks, maybe take a few shots of jack before you show up if you need to.
Chertown I got the chance to talk to before the dual. Interesting guy. Very informative and knows his wrestling. Concession workers could be a little more friendly. I guess maybe they didnít want to be there on a Monday but I mean you sell popcorn for heavens sake. If there is an event on a Monday, sell the popcorn and put a smile on your face.
Overall a good night of action for me. Never seen the bald ref before. What did you all think of him?
