Waste has gone on unchecked for so long that the incentive is not to save and be efficient. The incentive is to continue to be wasteful lest your budget get cut.

That is why I appreciated Musk’s efforts. He started innovative businesses designed to deliver value for shareholders and customers. Waste creates value for nobody. It can and should be eliminated including the elimination of wasteful and unwarranted spending.
