International Cooperation: The U.S. has engaged in increased cooperation with countries like China, India, Mexico, and Canada to combat the global illicit drug trade. This includes the launch of the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats, uniting over 140 countries in the effort.
Law Enforcement Actions: The Department of Justice has arrested and prosecuted numerous high-level cartel leaders and drug traffickers, targeting the organizations responsible for bringing fentanyl into the country, according to the White House. Federal prosecutions and convictions for drug-related crimes, including those involving fentanyl, have reportedly been on the rise under the Biden administration.
