If you consider a recession to be two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth, the only recession while Trump was president was a short-lived one in February and March of 2020 when politicians of both parties locked down the economy making it illegal to go to restaurants, go to church, and support businesses of our choice. We were told to obey authoritarian mandates on social distancing and masking that had no bases in science or face prosecution. Questioning authority resulted in government censorship.

So yes, there was a short-lived recession caused by the political elite but it happened prior to Trump leaving office making your assertion a false one.
