Evidently, a group of Texas state legislators are fleeing Texas in order to skirt their duties in an attempt to stop the majority party from considering changing the legislative district maps. This, of course, is called gerrymandering and both parties, duly elected as majorities in various states do it as part of their duties as legislators. Ironically, many of the AWOL state officials are fleeing to states with Democrat majorities who have done the same thing.

They may be in violation of state law and certainly subject to state fines. The state should prosecutes them accordingly.

But Sen. Coryn (R-Texas) wants the FBI to get involved. This is not appropriate and should be stopped immediately. The bureau's involvement degrades the principle of federalism by infringing upon Texas's authority to discipline its lawmakers. It is also the most recent example of the Trump Justice Department being weaponized for political gain and tasked with duties outside its standard wheelhouse.

Frankly, the Trump Justice Department is acting almost as badly as the Biden Justice Department. The weaponization of the DOJ, regardless of which party controls the White House must end. Let Texas resolve Texas’ legal issues as the Founders intended.
