Of course, Newsome really doesn't have to be concerned about Texas...it is all political theater and he used it as the framework for opening salvo to his running for president. Abbott is preventing any course correction to the current lineup that assures the democrats have five seats - with little to no voice of those that actually reside in the over all district.
