The state of Alaska decided it was a good idea to seize possession of Ken Jouppi’s $95,000 Cessna. His crime? Well he was delivering a lady who bought three six packs of beer as part of her grocery shopping to a small town in the interior of the state. He also had a six pack of beer for himself on the plane. To pay for this egregious crime, the state wants his plane.
It would seem to me that the Eighth Amendment would provide protection to this 80+ year old retired pilot. Part of the Bill of Rights, this amendment protects American citizens from excessive fines and cruel and unusual punishment.
Free Ken. He deserves better.
