Originally developed by Harris Corporation in Melbourne FL for US DOD in the 70s back when I worked at the HQ in Cleveland OH.
They could read the fine print on a Budweiser can from 50,000 feet.
Since then, technology has increased the distance from which items can be viewed coherently.
Harris paid for my entire MBA at CWRU. The CEO at the time, George S Dively, a Harvard grad, actually started the corporate tuition reimbursement plan used by major corporations as a high-level employment benefit.
They then moved HQ to Melbourne, and I moved back to Nashville. Melbourne is a lovely Indian River/Oceanfront location near the Sebastian Inlet and idyllic Vero Beach, but a bit too culturally void for me.
