Neither president was a fascist authoritarian (thank goodness) but both see the role of the federal government much different than the framers of the Constitution. Both seem to enjoy executive orders and both have had executive orders challenged and rejected by the USSC.

Biden seemed to govern from a “we know what is best for you” philosophy as evidenced by his COVID mandates and suppression of opinions that challenged those mandates. Trump seems to govern from a “but it is what the voters want” philosophy. Both were/are driven by an unhealthy motive to destroy their political opponents, even if it means deploying cringeworthy lawfare tactics as a means.

I long for a president who embraces the Constitution and respects civil discourse. He/she should understand that the role of the federal government is to protect our inalienable rights, not suppress them.
