However, I do like the beautiful Country Club Plaza in KC. I dined under the stars on the roof of the Alameda Plaza Hotel overlooking the Plaza while a lovely lady from the KCO played Satie's Gymnopedie no 1, Bach Prelude No 1 in C Major, Satie's Gnossienne no.1 and other musical delicacies on a harp. That, with Stag's Leap, made for a memorable evening. KC has quite a bit of culture. The ballet is superb, and their rendition of Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite" is among the best.

The Adam's Mark Hotel in St Louis was a treat in its day:




But, it seems the city has gone downhill quite a bit, with the best hotel going for $140/night and many other name brands going for under $100.

Parts of America are in serious decline.
