To attribute that to DJT (or any singular President) is laughable.

This country was divided during the Revolutionary War - ex: loyalists versus patriots.

And the divisions have also had outside influences - ex: France and Britain during the wars with Native American tribes.

Is it even possible to have an earnest discussion without hyperbole anymore? Probably not.
